Oaxaca maintains security conditions and normal tourist operations

A message from Oaxaca’s State Tourism Secretariat: February 24th 2026

The Ministry of Tourism of the State of Oaxaca informs the general public and tourists visiting our state that:

Oaxaca continues to be a safe, peaceful, and welcoming destination, with tourist activities and airport operations proceeding as normal.

Regarding the update issued by the U.S. Embassy on February 22, 2026, on security operations in some regions of the country (mainly in Jalisco ano specific areas of other states), we confirm that there are no reports of incidents in our state.

The Oaxaca, Huatulco, and Puerto Escondido airports are operating without interruptions, cancellations, or delays related to these events. Our main highways, tourist destinations, communities and archaeological sites remain open and welcoming visitors with their usual hospitality.

Oaxaca continues to be the cultural heart of Mexico: a place where thousands of travelers enjoy its world-renowned cuisine, unique crafts, traditional festivals, impressive archaeological sites, and extraordinary natural landscapes every day.
