In this new year, Oaxaca is poised to become one of the most sought-after tourist destinations, thanks to its diverse attractions ranging from beaches and cultural cities to natural wonders, according to the tenth edition of Booking.com‘s Travel Predictions 2026, which analyzes new travel habits globally.
The research surveyed more than 29,000 people in 33 countries and territories, leading the platform to identify that in 2026 travel will be more experiential, personalized, and connected to individual preferences. These trends position Oaxaca as a prime destination to experience them.
The state offers unique experiences based on its diverse cuisine, ancient traditions, and the richness of its communities, captivating all who visit. But Oaxaca isn’t the only Mexican state on the list of favorite tourist destinations for 2026; Nayarit, Jalisco, Hidalgo, and Yucatán also made the cut.
The study considered adults planning to travel for business or leisure in the next 12 to 24 months, and the destinations had to be among the 100 most booked on Booking.com between January 1 and June 25, 2025.
